Chinese opposes attempt to split country

The English language version of the People's Daily Online has posted a short article which continues the propaganda against the Dalai Lama by suggesting that his efforts to establish some level of independence for Tibet is actually an attempt to split the country of China. [Tibet]

(Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gan) said the purpose for the Dalai Lama's visit is to promote the "so -called internationalization" of the Tibet question so as to achieve his goal of splitting the motherland.
In a related story appearing on the newKerala.com web site, Chinese ambassador Sun Yuxi was quoted as having told reporters that "If (the Dalai Lama) gives up separatism, he is welcome any time to go back to China and preach (Buddhist) religion", and insisted that China was no threat to culture and religion in Tibet.
