Dalai Lama to meet the Pope on Friday or Saturday

Stories appearing on several sources on the internet indicate that His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be meeting His Holiness Pope Benedict XIV later today.

Reported on the India Times web site:
DHARAMSALA: The Dalai Lama, Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, will meet Pope Benedict XVI in Vatican on Friday. While this is the first meeting between the two religious leaders, the Buddhist leader had met Benedict's predecessor, Pope John Paul II, for at least nine times.

The same story was carried by the DailyIndia and Phayul.com web sites. However, as of this writing there is no mention of this at the Zenit News Agency site, The Pope Blog, The Dalai Lama Web Site, or the Tibetan Government in Exile web site.

According to the Dalia Lama's web site, His Holiness will be speaking at a conferenence in Rome on Oct. 14th. [more]
