Dalai Lama dilemma for Hain

Reported today by the Sunday Times-Ireland: The Northern Ireland Office (NIO) will decide this week whether a minister will meet the Dalai Lama, who will visit Belfast next week. It has declined to provide heightened security for the Buddhist leader, writes Liam Clarke.

The Dalai Lama will arrive in Belfast next Sunday evening and will stay until Wednesday. He plans to visit reconciliation groups, give a talk in St Anne’s Cathedral and meet civic leaders in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall.
