"You are blessed to be born in this land of Guru Rinpoche"

Last week during a visit to the city of Sikkim, the seat of the exiled 17th Karmapa, the Dalai Lama addressed crowds estimated to be 30,000 strong, or more. In his first address he told the gathered crowd that they were " blessed to be born in this land of Guru Rinpoche."

When asked if when the Karmapa might return to Rumtek Monastery, the Dalai Lama quickly replied "We all want Karmapa in Rumtek (info), but for your answer you will have to ask the government of India." An excellent article on this event is available from the Phayul.com web site.
