Envoys of the Dalai Lama to Visit China

During the program Talk to VOA, the Dalai Lama's Special Envoy in Washington, Lodi Gyari, announced that Envoys of the Dalai Lama will make a fourth trip to China in the near future. "Everything is decided except the timing of the visit, and we are in touch with concerned Chinese leadership," said Gyari, who was a guest on the program. It will be the first such trip since last September, when Gyari and Envoy Kelsang Gyaltsen visited Tibet and other locations in China. In mid-April Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao made a trip to India, where Tibetan exiles had been urged to refrain from demonstrating in an effort to create "an atmosphere conducive to Tibetan-Chinese dialogue" (article).

Talk to VOA is a one-hour program produced by Voice of America (info), and is broadcast weekly via satellite television, shortwave radio, and the Internet. You may read the complete press release on the VOA web site.
