Dalai Lama, Bill Clinton and Richard Gere among those to meet this week

As reported in Qatar's The Peninsula today, the Dalai Lama, former President Bill Clinton, and actor Richard Gere will be among the celebrities and Nobel laureates who will meet in the ancient Jordanian city of Petra this week.
The goal of the meeting is to find answers to the problems in the world. Top thinkers in economics, medicine. physics and literature are expected to attend the conference, which runs from May 18-19, andis being sponsored by Jordan's King Abdullah II and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Elie Wiesel.

The whole initiative is to bring the best of minds together to think about where the world is going," Jordan's Finance Minister Bassem Awadallah is quoted as stating.
